October 8, 2004 - What a beautiful day for Craik's Eco-Centre Grand Opening! (Photo 1) Lindy Thorsen and the CBC Noon Edition crew helped to make it really "Grand" by broadcasting live from the Eco-Centre. Here they are setting up for the show. (Photo 2) Shirley Eade sets up Hemp clothing, Keepsake Albums, and Calendars for sale. (Photo 3) Glenn Hymers and Shirley Eade put together displays of the construction of the building, as well as a feature display of Project Manager, Cory Gordon. Lindy Thorsen interviewed the following from Noon until 1:00 p.m.: (Photo 4) Mayor Rod Haugerud, (Photo 5) Jason Freeman, Hemptown Clothing Inc., (Photo 6) Dr. Mary Beckie, CSLP Project Coordinator, (Photo 7) Jim Nodge, local artisan. During the Noon Edition, (Photo 8) Eileen Laverty from Saskatoon entertained everyone with singing. Some selections were from her latest CD, "Dancing with Angels". (Photo 9) Paul Stinson's Grade 7 class attended the opening and did their own interviews while there. Other media present for the day was: (Photo 10) CTV and (Photos 11 & 12)) CBC French TV who interviewed Mayor Rod Haugerud and Donna Dobrowolsky (in French). (Photo 13) Large crowds enjoyed lunch at noon and a buffet for supper at the Solar Garden Restaurant(.pdf). (Photo 14) Ladies from Saskatoon enjoyed one of Jim Nodge's creations.

October 8 continued - (Photo 1) Lindy Thorsen did a great job, as usual, of hosting the phone-in from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. He had Lynn Oliphant, Coordinator of the Prairie Institute for Human Ecology and Margret Asmuss, Sask. Environmental Society as his guests. (Photo 2) Don Leitch and (Photo 3) Elmer Laird were two that talked from the floor during the phone-in. (Photo 4) The crowd, which included all of Craik School, started to arrive for the 2:30 p.m. opening ceremonies. (Photo 5) Dignitaries marched to the podium between two R.C.M.P. members dressed in their red serge, Const. Rod Rudnisky and Corp. John Warren. (Photo 6) The dignitaries that spoke are as follows: Mayor Rod Haugerud, Dave Ehman, RM Counsellor, Lyle Stewart, MLA, Clarke Puckett for Tom Lukiwski, MP, Clay Serby, Minister Responsible for Rural Revitalization, and Lynn Oliphant, Prairie Institute for Human Ecology.
